Can you tell us a little about yourself?

Hello! I am Rachel and I’m currently in Atlanta, Georgia.  My travel style is a mixed bag: Adventurer, Backpacker, Budget, as well as Mixed (Budget + Luxury)
After being diagnosed with Anxiety and Depression Disorder, I made a life-altering decision to leave a lucrative and promising career to live my life wholeheartedly and in Purpose.
I set out to heal through travel and have not stopped since!  I revamped my travel blog and starting sharing ways for the Young, Black, and Cultured to see and discover the world, have the most authentic experiences as possible, for the least amount of money possible!

As a master traveller, what are some of your in-flight essentials?

  • My iPad (loaded with books, movies, and music)
  • Noise Canceling Headphones
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste

How many countries have you visited? and what’s on your travel agenda for 2016?

By the end of 2015, I would have gone to 34 countries!   For 2016 so far I have: Japan, Vietnam, Greece, Iceland, and Morocco

I commonly use points/miles and jumping on cheap or glitch fares!

Shameless Plug: www.RachelTravels.com/RachelAlerts is how I help others fly for cheap too!

What is a travel destination or festival that every person of color must visit? and why?

I think people of color should have an African country on their list! My favorite country and the country I felt most connected to is South Africa!  Turns out, we did a DNA test and my Maternal ancestors are rooted in South Africa! Made perfect sense then.

What’s your favorite hotel and why?

I am an AirBnB STAN!  But if I had to choose a hotel, it would definitely be the ALOFT. I love the decor, service, and ambiance.

Favorite beach?

The Visayan Sea! I found this sea scuba diving at Malapascua Island in the Philippines.

What’s the city with the best nightlife?

I had a REALLY good time in Hong Kong! People are out looking for a good time and there are lots of diverse people. It’s truly just a genuinely amazing time!  The blurry photo is a perfect depiction of the night!
